Questions on selling etc

I picked up a game worn jersey several years ago at a fund raiser. Now I'm interested in selling it. How important is it to get an LOA? Who should I get the LOA from? What is the best way to pack and ship said jersey?

Thanks

Hi Jim, Welcome to the Forum.

Your questions are very valid and I can't believe no one responded yet. Here are the blanket answers.

Importance of a LOA: Depends on who it is from and the shirt in question. It also depends on the collector. If it is a jersey that was only made for the team and only available as game worn then the collector who would buy it from you would know that and purchase accordingly. If is it a superstar jersey or from an NHL team then an LOA could never hurt the value. There is no such thing as "too many people believe it is real and signed off on it."

So who to get the LOA from: Short answer is MeiGray. Contact Sales@meigray.com Last I checked, the cost of an LOA depended on the "value" of the shirt. Prices I believe started at $100 and went up to $250 or more

That is not to say there is anything wrong with contacting Milt Byron at Byronshockeyland.com but while I happen to like him, I think the MeiGray letter gets more attention than Milty's.

Packing and Shipping: Well if you live in the USA (as your location indicates) and you are shipping to the US or Canada, then I suggest USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation. UPS and FedEx are fine as well and I would suggest them for overseas shipping (as USPS loses it's liability once it leaves the US. Shirt got lost in the Russian Post? You are SOL with USPS)

Hope this answered your questions and ood luck with selling your shirt
